ECLDF Treasurer's report

Dear Lay Dominican Friends in Europe,

On the resignation of our previous treasurer in November 2005 I was elected to take on this responsibility. I will try to do my best for you.

As is well known, our council was established for the benefit of all the Lay Dominican fraternities around Europe. Our purpose is to promote relations and communication among the provinces / fraternities. Every 3 years we organize the European Assembly and we try to visit some provinces as well. We also have our regular working meetings twice a year. To be capable of fulfilling our tasks we need financial backing but we do not wish to put a heavy burden on you.

As you know, being a Lay Dominican is "free of charge", but a voluntary membership
contribution is desirable. If every member contributed, your ECLDF would be able to cover the essential running costs.

My suggestion is the following for the normal, usual yearly contribution:

- Every year each Lay Dominican might donate at least the cost of 1 kg bread (or preferably 2 Euros) towards supporting the work of the European Council for Lay Dominican Fraternities.

- The local fraternity presidents could collect these small contributions from their members and pass the money on to their provincial Lay president. The provincial Lay president could then transfer the sum to our new bank account.

Kto.Nr. 600 419 4010

(Please add the written information "yearly contribution from .... province…")

I consider this to be a reasonable form of support. If you wish to it to continue that there is a viable European Council, then please send us your yearly contributions during the first six months of the year.

On our own we are all small, but if we join forces we will be able to do great things.

Thanking you for your support. I send you greetings from Budapest, Hungary
